THURSDAY AT NÄRCON

Närcon is a convention based around nerd culture, focusing mainly (but not only) on games, anime, cosplay and south east-Asian popular culture in general. I’ve been going to this convention since 2013 with only a few missed, and it happens twice a year, in the summer and winter.
Personally, the winter convention is my favourite because it is smaller, more cozy and helps brighten the spirit during quite a dull and grey time of year. I always get very nostalgic for my nerdy interests around this time, because my first proper convention experience was at Närcon Winter. I was struggling a lot in school and was socially shunned by my classmates (probably for being a weird little queer kid with Swedish, left wing morals). I came to Närcon Winter 2014 by myself and for the first time in a long while felt a sense of belonging and joy. I also met my first ”nerd” friends! So it is very special to me still ₊˚⊹ᰔ
I came to this Närcon around lunch on the Thursday, put some of my old fashion items up for sale in the Second hand market, and met up with my friends! Mostly we just walked around the vendors and Artist Alley. I bought some CDs and got myself some Southeast Asian snacks, and just hung out.

I wore this Baby, The Stars Shine Bright/ Disney collab dress, that I got a few years back from lacemarket.jp

In the evening there was a J-fashion meet-up that I went to. I used to be the youngest at all of these types of events, but now all of a sudden I’m among the oldest! But I got to spoke to some of the kids that were starting out and got to share some of my elderly wisdom ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ ) (and did make some acquaintances closer to my own age). The organizer also held a quiz on J-fashion that I won! This was the prize:

Lastly, I hung out with my friends in one of the board game rooms. We played a game called Drömdejten (The Dream Date)- where all the ”girls” got to date the ”boys in their class”. It was made probably around the time I myself was born, and the hair gel levels on the ”boy”-cards were something else haha! I guess I got to test out heterosexuality for the first time (っ º - º ς)
I think I’ll stick to my fiancée…

And that was all that went down in day one, thanks for reading!! ૮ • ﻌ - ა
